After the completion of two matches the Brighton Rackets captain refused to play the remaining games on the basis that a couple of the plyers had not arrived on time. Unfortunately the players in question had been delayed due to circumstances beyond their control (apalling travel delays from London in one instance). However there was no significant delay and no reason for the match not to have been completed. Lewes do not understand why the Brighton Rackets captain took the action he did and his comments are welcome.

Following investigation, this match has been awarded to Brighton Rackets under Rule 5, since at least 2 members of the Home team were missing long after the start time for the match. A major element within this was the lack of communication between the Home team and the Away players as to what was happening, allowing frustration to build up. The whole point of the league is to play squash so it is hoped that this situation will not occur again. |
